Annual In the Pink Tennis Tournament,
September 25, presented by the Women's Committee of Martha
Jefferson Hospital. The tournament will be held at 9:00 a.m. at seven
Charlottesville area tennis venues: Farmington Country Club, Boar's Head
Sports Club, Glenmore Country Club, Forest Lakes, Keswick Club, ACAC
(men's site) and Fairview Swim & Tennis Club. Proceeds of the tournament
benefit Marianne's Room at Martha Jefferson Hospital which provides
specially ordered wigs, scarves, "chemo caps", post operative prostheses
and other support, free of charge, to patients undergoing cancer
treatments. The event is open to the public and men and women of all
ages are invited to wear PINK and come out and play! The cost is $100

Fall
High School Tennis Skills Development Program, at Albemarle High
School, September 20-October 27, Mondays and Wednesdays,
4:30-6:00pm. This program will focus on developing tennis skills through
drills, conditioning and match play. It is intended for current
Albemarle High School or Charlottesville High School tennis players, as
well as those aspiring to make their school’s tennis team next spring.

USTA Recreational QuickStart Tennis Workshop at
Farmington Country Club, October 9, 9:30am-1:00pm. Learn how to
teach kids the “sport for a lifetime” with the USTA’s new kid-sized,
“play to learn” format. Interactive workshop is designed for PE
teachers, parents, after-school program staff members, tennis
instructors, homeschoolers, older juniors and other community
volunteers. Registration deadline: September 15.

Women
in Sports (WinS) Doubles Tennis Event, at Glenmore Country Club,
October 17, 1:00-4:00pm. Balls, gift bags, prizes for the top teams,
snacks and drinks will be provided. WinS is a local non-profit
organization which raises money in order to support a mission of
promoting and recognizing local female high school athletes.
