LeaguesAdult leagues are a fun way to play tennis on a regular basis throughout the year.

There are singles, doubles and mixed doubles leagues, for all ages and all skill levels. Check out the adult leagues listed below to find the tennis league that best suits you!

Charlottesville USTA League Tennis

Spring, Summer, Fall
Anyone interested in joining a Charlottesville USTA team may contact Nancy Holt at (434) 923-4344. Any group of 8-16 players may field a team. You must be a USTA member and have a USTA rating. Teams can be formed by combining players from clubs or the community.

  • Spring Leagues: Matches are played April-June.
    Singles/Doubles: Women - 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5; Men - 3.5, 4.0, 4.5
    Mixed Doubles: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0
     
  • Summer Leagues:  Matches are played June-August.
    Seniors (40+):  Women - 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5; Men - 3.5, 4.0
    Combo: Women - 6.5, 7.5, 8.5; Men - 7.5, 8.5
     
  • Fall Leagues: Matches are played August-December.
    Singles: Women - 3.5, 4.0; Men - 4.5
    Mixed Combo: 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5
    Tri-Level: Women - 3.0/3.5/4.0/4.5; Men - 3.0/3.5/4.0/4.5
CATS (Charlottesville Area Tennis Singles)

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter (weather permitting)
This league was founded in 2006 to encourage singles matches on the public courts between individuals at similar skill levels. The "Singles" refers to tennis only, i.e. the only love connection you're likely to find is Love - 40. Learn more...

  • Skill Level: Players currently range from about 3.0 - 4.5 ratings.
  • Time/Place: Individuals schedule the times and locations of their own matches.
  • Format: Year-round open play with round-robin divisional play in the Spring and Fall
  • Cost: There is no cost for CATS Tennis.

ABC Tennis Club

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter (weather permitting)
This league provides A, B, and C level enthusiasts the opportunity to play tennis on a weekly basis in a fun, supportive, and casual atmosphere.

  • Skill Level: C level or higher (advanced beginner or higher/3.0 or higher). The majority of our members are at the advanced intermediate level (3.5-4.0), with a few players at the advanced level (4.5-5.0). The emphasis is on fun and sportsmanship rather than cutthroat competition Must be supportive of players beneath your skill level. Men and women players are equally welcome as well as youths who are at a 3.0 level or higher.
  • Time: Saturdays and Sundays beginning at 1 PM and lasting as long as anyone wants to play. Also one week night of play to be announced.
  • Location: Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) tennis courts. One evening tennis session may be scheduled at another venue such as Pen Park.
  • Format: Informal mixture of singles, doubles, and round robin play.
  • Equipment: Must bring your racquet and a can of new or almost new tennis balls.
  • Social Events: Get-togethers, tennis parties and informal tournaments are scheduled several times throughout the year.
  • Cost: No fees at the present time.

CHATL (Charlottesville-Albemarle Tennis League)

Spring, Summer, Fall
This league which began in 1981, offers competitive play on a weekly basis. Mixed doubles are played spring, summer, and fall, in 8 week sessions. Any mixed doubles pair or individuals may sign up. The spring session begins in April.

  • Skill Level: 3.5-4.5 (USTA rating not required)
  • Time: Saturday, 9am and/or Wednesday, 5:30pm
  • Location: Pen Park
  • Format: Mixed Doubles
  • Cost: $17/person per 8 week session

GATC (Get Acquainted Tennis Club)

Spring, Summer, Fall
This league, which began in 1978, is for adults looking for playing partners to play tennis on a regular basis. Competition, instruction, and direction by Ron Manilla. Meets every Saturday morning from April-October.

  • Skill Level: Advanced Beginner-Intermediate Adults
  • Time: Saturday, 9am-12 noon
  • Location: Charlottesville High School
  • Format: Drills, lessons, open play
  • Cost: Spring - $20; Summer  - $40; Fall - $25; All Sessions - $75

Coast 2 Coast Tennis League

Spring, Fall
C2C Tennis is a "flex" tennis league offering singles, doubles, and combo match play for adults at all levels. Being a "flex" league, players are given the freedom to decide where and when they play during each 5 week season, making play possible for even the busiest of schedules. Players can sign up individually or with a partner making it easy to connect with the growing tennis community in Charlottesville. Learn more...

  • Time: Flexible - Players agree on a desired time for each match
  • Location: Flexible - Players designate their home court
  • Format: Singles, Doubles, Combo
  • Cost: $35 per league
  • Registration: Players create a free account and pay for desired leagues online.
